“GUIDANCE” was inspired by Sowmya Kumar’s biography, as part of the project “whA(R)T makes one a Notable”. Sowmya’s passion and engagement for children and children’s education, particularly for students with special needs, impressed the artist profoundly and inspired her to create a piece representing a child being guided to a brighter future, in a simple - but not easy - way.
The Artist:
Kelyne Reis is a German/ Brazil born visual artist, who has lived and worked in Houston since 2009.
Reis’s preferred media is acrylic on canvas. Influences of the German “Bauhaus” movement and of Pop Art can be seen in her works, in which she plays with bold colors, graphic shapes, and flat/clean surfaces, telling stories in a very simple way.
